Painted Desert - the Thunderbirds

Looks like the final day has arrived - this is the last part of my Painted Desert kit - a group of thunderbirds.  I was playing with styles and came up with all of these and couldn't pick just one to put in a kit, so you get them all.  Many, many thanks for all your wonderful comments.  They are so appreciated.

Painted Desert Freebie - Patterned papers

While I don't use many patterned papers in my layouts, I know many people like them, so I played with some templates, overlays and textures and came up with a few.  Hope you like them.  I also found a spare flower and included that in two colors.  Tomorrow I'll have a group of Thunderbird elements and that will end Painted Desert, at least for now.  Thank you again for all your comments.

Painted Desert Add-Ons Freebie

This is the add-on to the Painted Desert - one BG and a few elements that I worked on after the colors were posted.  I really had fun doing this project and am so happy that so many people like it.  It was originally just supposed to be a few papers and elements for me to scrap my photos from our western trip.  It kind of grew a bit - lol!  And today was no exception - I was fooling around with some pattern templates and styles, so there will be two more uploads - one tomorrow and one Thursday - both on the small side.

Thank you again for all your comments.  I treasure them all.

Painted Desert Freebie - the Blues

Well, I've come to the end of the colors.  This last one is of the blues, well, more like turquoise.  Turquoise  reminds me mostly of Southwestern native American art, especially the gorgeous jewelry and colorful clothing.  Although this is the last of the color collection, there are a few pieces left that didn't seem to fit anywhere (or I thought of after the colors were posted lol) and I will try to post them tomorrow.

Thank you all for your sweet comments - I've enjoyed reading them all.  And I'm so happy that you liked these little kits.  If you do use any of my designs in layouts that you post, please send me a link, I would love to see them.

Painted Desert Freebie - the Oranges

Today the oranges - the glorious oranges in the sunsets especially.  We have had the privilege of being in the desert several times at sunset and the colors in the sky are just gorgeous.  Of course there are shades of orange in the rocks, the ground, the flowers, and even in the adobe buildings.

Thank you again for all the comments.  There will be two more additions to this kit after this one,  and I will let you know again when the last one is up.

Here are the oranges and you will be downloading from MediaFire again.  Please let me know if there are any problems.

Painted Desert Freebie - the Pinks

Next up - the Pinks.  There are pink flowers, pink rocks, pink pottery and pink in the sky at sunset - probably at dawn too, but I've never been up that early.  There were cactus flowers everywhere when we were in the Southwest this past May.  I'm so glad we made the trip during this time, it was the first we had seen flowers on the Saguaro.  I'm a tall person, but saguaro are way taller than me, so they were a bit difficult to photograph.

Again, thank you to all who took the time to reply.  Your comments are very much appreciated.  Now for the Pinks, and again, you will find them on MediaFire.

And here is a layout I did with mostly pinks and some elements from the earlier colors.  This was taken at the Visitor Center in Las Crucs, NM.  I used a technique on the photo called Part Photo Part Sketch.  It was written for Photoshop but I was able to use it in Elements with a plug-in for the curves.  If you click on any of the photos you will get a large view.

And I had to add these two photos of the Desert Willow.  The first is the tree and the second the flowers.  They were such pretty delicate little bells - and they were pink!

Painted Desert Freebie - the Golds

Here is the next part of Painted Desert - the Golds.  Golden color is everywhere on the desert - the ground, rocks, flowers, animals and birds, and most of all the sun.  My first glimpse of the desert was in 1994 and I fell in love with it.  Makes me wish I had been born in that part of the country.  We go back whenever we can.  Thank you to all who commented.  Makes me feel like all the time I spent on making these kits was worthwhile.  This part has been uploaded to MediaFire.  Please let me know if you have any problems.

Painted Desert Freebie - the Greens

Here is the second part of the Painted Desert-the Greens.  There is quite a bit of green in the desert - all the cacti and trees like the Joshua, Mesquite and Palo Verde, not to mention the lizards.   Through the years we have been to Arizona at least a half dozen times, mostly to Phoenix to visit family.  Tucson is another favorite place - if you ever get there, be sure to visit the Sonoran Desert Museum - it is well worth the visit.

A big thank you to the ladies who left comments on the Browns.  I appreciate them all.

And here are the Greens:

And this is a layout I did using the Browns and the Greens.

El Morro National Monument

These are two layouts I did using the Browns.  We did this hike this past May when we drove to Phoenix for our grandson's high school graduation.  It was an awesome hike, but if you don't like heights (like me) it can be very scary.  There are places where you are on top, nothing to hold onto, and add to that the wind was blowing.  It is wide, so unless you go to the edge, there is really no danger of falling off - tell that to someone who doesn't like heights!  El Morro is in the Northern part of New Mexico and we stopped there on our way back home.

Painted Desert freebie

Oh my, no postings since the middle of April!!  I am a bad blogger.  Well, since then we drove to Phoenix and back, have had a drought in our area, and I have been working on a new kit called Painted Desert.  It sort of got away from me.  There are a total of 6 parts divided by colors, roughly.  The first one will be The Browns.  Hope you like it.  I have it uploaded on Dropbox.  This is the first time I have used that service so please let me know if there are any problems downloading it.
